Where do Cloves Come From?

Until the colonial era, cloves grew on a few islands in the Moluccas including Bacan, Makian, Moti, Ternate and Tidore in Indonesia. Now, however, they are grown in Madagascar, Tanzania and other smaller countries including Sri Lanka and Kenya. This means that cloves are grown all year round due to their differing harvest seasons.
