Set up and manage payouts

Add valid payout details and understand when seller funds can be released.

Seller AcademyUpdated 13 July 2026

A payout method tells Upfrica where to send your eligible seller, sourcing-agent or affiliate balance. Using accurate payout details helps prevent failed transfers, verification problems and unnecessary delays.

Before adding a payout method

Use an account that belongs to you or to a business you are authorised to represent. The account name should match the person or business responsible for your Upfrica account.

Choose an available payout method

The payout methods available to you depend on your country, account role and payout currency.

  • Bank account: receive eligible payouts into a supported bank account.
  • Mobile Money: receive eligible payouts into a supported mobile-money wallet where available.

Some countries may support only bank payouts, while others may support both bank account and Mobile Money payouts.

Add your payout information carefully

  • Select the correct bank or Mobile Money network.
  • Enter the complete account or wallet number.
  • Use the account-holder name shown by the bank or provider.
  • Check every digit before saving.
  • Do not use an account that you cannot access or control.
Ghana accounts

Ghana sellers may be offered supported bank-account or Mobile Money payout options. Select the correct bank or network before entering the account number.

United Kingdom accounts

UK bank payouts normally require the account-holder name, a six-digit sort code and an eight-digit account number. UK bank details may require internal review before the first payout.

Account verification

Upfrica may attempt to verify the payout account before it is saved. The verification process depends on the country, bank, Mobile Money network and payment provider.

Verified

The payout provider successfully matched the account number with an account name. Check that the displayed name is correct before saving.

Pending internal review

Some payout methods cannot be verified automatically. The details may be saved and reviewed by Upfrica before a payout is released.

Not verified

The account could not yet be confirmed. Check the bank, network and account number before trying again.

Saved

The payout details have been stored, but this does not necessarily mean that every payout requirement has been completed. Additional account, order or identity checks may still apply.

Saving a payout method does not create an immediate payment

Your payout method only tells Upfrica where eligible funds should be sent. A balance must first become available for payout.

How funds become eligible for payout

An order payment does not always become withdrawable immediately. Upfrica may keep funds pending while the order is processed and buyer-protection requirements are completed.

Funds may remain pending while:

  • The buyer's payment is being confirmed.
  • The seller is preparing or dispatching the order.
  • The delivery or pickup is awaiting completion.
  • A return, cancellation or dispute is being reviewed.
  • Seller or payout verification is incomplete.
  • A payment provider is processing the transaction.

Understand payout timing

  • Payout processing times can differ by country and payment provider.
  • Bank and Mobile Money transfers may have different processing times.
  • Weekends and public holidays may delay settlement.
  • Verification, returns or disputes may delay the release of funds.
  • A payout marked as processing may not appear immediately in your account.

Always check the payout status inside Upfrica before contacting your bank or Mobile Money provider.

Changing your payout details

You can normally edit or delete a payout method before it has been used. For security, a payout method may become locked after a successful or attempted payout.

Update your payout details when:

  • You change your bank account.
  • You change your Mobile Money wallet.
  • You no longer control the saved account.
  • Your account-holder or registered business name changes.
  • The saved bank or network is no longer supported.
Locked payout methods

A payout method that has already been used may be locked to protect your account. Contact Upfrica support when sensitive payout details need to be changed after a payout.

Security rules

  • Never share your password, verification code or one-time PIN.
  • Never enter another person's account without their permission and proper business authority.
  • Do not send payout details through unverified messages or social-media accounts.
  • Do not pay anyone who promises to unlock or accelerate an Upfrica payout.
  • Review unexpected changes to your payout information immediately.
Your payout details are not shown to buyers

The information is used for eligible Upfrica payouts and settlements. Buyers should never be instructed to send marketplace payments directly to your payout account.
