Osu Marketplace & Operations Lead

Upfrica is looking for a serious, trustworthy and sales-minded person to help manage our Osu marketplace and operations point in Accra.

This is not a passive shop attendant role. The right person will help sell Upfrica-owned inventory, respond to WhatsApp and walk-in enquiries, promote products online, manage stock records, support sourcing requests, coordinate pickups/deliveries, and help onboard local sellers and vendors.

Training will be provided, but the person must already be comfortable using smartphones, WhatsApp, online selling platforms, customer communication and basic daily reporting.

The Osu Marketplace & Operations Lead will help turn the Osu location into a small commercial and operations hub for Upfrica.

Daily responsibilities include:

• Selling and promoting Upfrica-owned products
• Responding to WhatsApp, online and walk-in customer enquiries
• Following up buyers and helping close orders
• Posting and promoting products online
• Taking clear product photos and helping upload/list products
• Checking stock daily and keeping accurate stock records
• Reporting fast-moving, low-stock and slow-moving items
• Coordinating customer pickup, delivery and handover
• Capturing sourcing requests when buyers need items Upfrica does not currently have
• Contacting local sellers, vendors and suppliers around Accra
• Helping onboard sellers and collect product information
• Confirming seller stock, prices and fulfilment readiness
• Supporting daily sales, sourcing and operational reporting
• Sending a clear daily report before closing

The role requires initiative. When the shop is quiet, the person should be following up buyers, promoting products, contacting sellers, improving listings, checking stock or working on sourcing requests.

Required:

• Comfortable using WhatsApp, smartphones and online platforms
• Good customer communication skills
• Sales-minded and confident speaking to buyers and sellers
• Able to follow up customers without waiting to be pushed
• Able to take clear product photos
• Able to keep basic records and send daily reports
• Comfortable working with targets
• Willing to learn Upfrica systems and processes
• Must be organised and careful with stock, payments and customer information

Preferred:

• Experience in retail, ecommerce, online selling or customer service
• Experience using platforms such as Jiji, Facebook Marketplace, Instagram, WhatsApp Business, Tonaton, Shopify or similar
• Basic computer or Google Sheets experience
• Knowledge of Osu, Accra sellers, shops, vendors or product markets
• Experience selling products online or managing customer enquiries
