Practical ways to make buyers feel safer before they contact, order or pay.

Seller AcademyUpdated 13 July 2026

Online buyers cannot always inspect you or your stock in person. Your profile, listings and communication must therefore provide clear evidence that you are reliable.

Trust signals buyers notice

  • A complete and consistent profile.
  • A verified phone number.
  • Original and accurate product photos.
  • Clear prices and delivery terms.
  • Fast and respectful responses.
  • Positive reviews from completed transactions.

Behaviours that damage trust

  • Advertising items that are not available.
  • Changing the price after a buyer contacts you.
  • Using copied photos that do not represent your stock.
  • Pressuring buyers to pay through unsafe channels.
  • Ignoring complaints or order updates.

Build long-term credibility

  • Keep promises about dispatch and delivery.
  • Tell the buyer quickly when a problem occurs.
  • Use Upfrica order and payment tools where available.
  • Resolve genuine complaints fairly.
Important

Never display false verification claims, fake reviews or misleading business credentials.
