Clear photographs can significantly improve buyer confidence. Expensive equipment is not required, but the item must be visible and accurately represented.
Prepare the product
- Clean the item before taking photographs.
- Remove unrelated objects from the scene.
- Arrange all included accessories together.
- Use a simple background that contrasts with the item.
Use good lighting
- Photograph near a window or in bright indirect light.
- Avoid harsh shadows across the product.
- Avoid dark rooms and strong coloured lighting.
- Check that labels and details are readable.
Capture useful angles
- Show the front, back and both sides.
- Show controls, ports, labels and important features.
- Photograph any defect clearly.
- Include packaging and accessories where relevant.
